Hello, people of Earth. Next month’s theme on Rookie is PARADISE. If you have a piece of writing, drawing, photographing, or collaging that deals with Shangri-La, utopias, ideals, cults, fantasy, fairy tales, dreams, make-believe, avoiding/postponing reality, romance, and/or the dark underbelly of any of that stuff, please send it/them to: submissions@rookiemag.com.

oh god, the Walkmen give me SUCH a flashback to watching the OC in high school
Log in to replyYaaaaay!
Log in to replyEverclear. I didn’t think they were that popular — a teacher of mine always told me she went to high school school with the lead singer — ’till I saw their name come up again on this playlist and decided to Wikipedia them.
Good mix.
Log in to replyJust when I think I couldn’t possibly love White Lightning any more…
Log in to replyexactly what Petra said. Elizabeth is inspiration of the mo’ 4 moi. High-heeled Timberlands, anyone?) & then we have ‘sister havana”. An all time high.
Log in to replyDreams by Cranberries is the best fall weather song.
Log in to replyAwesome mix!

Log in to replyAh good mix, but I was thinking that after the previous mix (which I also really liked) that there would be a bit more variety in terms of genres.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the indie, chirpy sound once in a while, but I am sure I am not the only one who enjoys different kinds of music that reads Rookie!
Log in to replyI agree with Cherokee. Don’t get me wrong – it is a great mix full of great tunes, but a little genre exploration on these mixes would be super rad.
Log in to replyYeah, we’ve definitely leaned indie-rock on the two playlists we’ve done so far, but there’ve only been two! Give us time. Next week’s mix and the one after have a lot of other kinds of music. We hear you, Cherokee & MeeMoo!
Log in to replyLooooove, Got You Where I Want You, Dreams, and My Name is Jonas.
Log in to replyThat song Dreams is great♥
I must admit, the Smiths cover kinda made me jump in my seat a little
Log in to replyWell done, my dear. Everclear? Bonnie Prince Billy? The Cranberries? Who’da thunk?
Log in to replyA subtle (and unique) work of genius that I wear with my first seed-stitched September sweater !
ahhhh, love pictures of lily, always randomly makes me think of the first season of Veronica Mars.
Log in to replyahh breeders – saints, perfect!
Log in to replyDesaparecidos? Hell yes!
Log in to replyAnd all the rest of it too. So much.
These play lists make my day.
How awful is it that I only know one song on that list? The Cranberries!
I’ll have to check the rest out. :)
