Hello, you. June’s theme will be LONGING. Unlike more-acute forms of desire like desperation or need, longing is a sweet ache—more pining for something than dying for it. It’s nostalgia, homesickness, boredom, a persistent feeling of lack, dreaming of escape/the future. It’s summer: summer homes & cottages, stuffy summer bedrooms, sun-bleached memories of summers past. The shadow of September that hangs over June. It’s secret hangouts, crushes, unrequited love. Send what you’ve got here, and thanks. ♥

Log in to replyPolaroids are really awesome, but this photo set really captures the reality and grittiness of Vegas. It’s dreamy with a dash of raw edge like Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere.

Log in to replyIs the title of this post taken from a Girls album? Because it totally goes perfectly with the vibes of that band, and that’s one of their album titles. I saw them in San Francisco and they put flowers on this awesomely gritty stage– they’re kind of amazing, and these photos spectacularly mimic their mix of roughness and sacredness-ish-nish.
Log in to replyyes!
Log in to replyThat’s so weird– polaroids always remind me of them, for some reason. I found an old polaroid camera of my mom’s with film from the eighties, and the photos come out all pink and warped and otherworldly, like the whole world has fallen asleep into some type of teenage dream– which is totally Girls, right? Their concert was like passing into another state of being, since I’d listened to their songs so much that they’d sort of become anthemic. And the flowers added to the whole thing , and then this girl threw her underwear up on stage in a Virgin Suicides-esque desire type thing for Chris Owens. It was beyond surreal. Anyway, really cool post– I’ve never met anyone else who listened to Girls before.
