Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman (today’s background) seems to be following me everywhere in the last two days – at school, at work, on my Starbucks cup ( “when we’re together snowmen come to life” Tell me that isn’t a direct reference??) and now here!
Fun fact about The Snowman movie – Raymond Briggs appeared in the film’s original introduction, but was later replaced by DAVID BOWIE “reminiscing” about a certain childhood winter. As a kid I only ever saw the version with no intro at all, a beautiful classic of course, but let me tell you, the Bowie version ROCKS.
HAHA Maria. You are in charge of making next years Christmas playlist, you should demand it right now! Also I love that song too. And the Bieber remix. NOT JOKING.
Great list but for the nerdier (sp?) people at rookie I would add some wizard rock into the mix such as:
Xmas Rules, Voldemort Droolz by Harry and the Potters
Oh! Christmas Tree by The Whomping Willows
Funky Xmas by Solitary Snape
Wrocking Around the Bathroom Stall by The Moaning Myrtles
These songs are fun to listening to when making Harry Potter themed food like Treacle Tart or Pumpkin Pasties to give to friends for the holidays!
I have a bone to pick; WHY HAVE YOU NEVER INCLUDED THE BEATLES IN ANY OF THE PLAY LISTS?
Honestly, whatever anyone says, they’re not old music that your dad listens to, even 50 years on most of their music still sounds fresh :)
Did you know that the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie is married (or was, who knows who is still together in the celebrity world) to Zoey whats-her-name from 500 Days of Summer??? I love them both so it makes me supah psyched that they are married!!! I love DCFC!!! And I agree w/ ‘Flower’ WHERE ARE THE BEATLES????

Hello, you. June’s theme will be LONGING. Unlike more-acute forms of desire like desperation or need, longing is a sweet ache—more pining for something than dying for it. It’s nostalgia, homesickness, boredom, a persistent feeling of lack, dreaming of escape/the future. It’s summer: summer homes & cottages, stuffy summer bedrooms, sun-bleached memories of summers past. The shadow of September that hangs over June. It’s secret hangouts, crushes, unrequited love. Send what you’ve got here, and thanks. ♥
