I think it’s great that you use white and black models but we hardly see Asian or Hispanic models… perhaps you could do more things that embrace differences.

LOVVVE! These are so me and its makes me so sad i’ll never go to a 70′s Disco like this! But at least I have Rookie for photoshoots like these!

This is perfect too, for me anyway, cause I just bought a pair of platform sneakers at a thrift store!

Cleaned ‘em up with some Goo-Gone, added new laces, rolled up my jeans, and I’M READY TO BOOGIE! ;)

    *Who loves platform sneakers*

    *THIS GUY*!

    ;)

Oh wow such a nice shoot! Forgive my rabble rousing, but I just want Rookie to do better/more than other publications. I’m glad you keep artistic integrity while actually giving the fans alot of the things we crave.

Don’t apologize; we love rabble-rousers. And we are honored that you expect so much from us.

The eye makeup is so spectacular but whenever I try to do it I end up with eyeshadow and liner smeared all over my face:(

    • Arabelle January 7th, 2012 12:56 PM

it’s important to use primer when you’re doing eye makeup, it lasts longer and keeps the colors more vibrant. :)

Love these. Love four, six, and ten. Petra’s photos are always so lovely! I’m totally obsessed. Rookie is life.

Once I though you were doing photo shoots too repetitive, even with different topics. I felt the same thing almost every time (with a FEW exceptions) and I needed more of you, because I knew you are all so creative! Then I saw the last photo shoot, the “Lonely Hearts Club”, and I kind of changed my mind. But I just have to wait for the upcoming photo shoots to see if my opinion stays the same from now or if I go back thinking that it is all limited. I am not telling you to change, I am just giving my opinion. ;) Good luck with RookieMag.com

Amazing photo shoot! I am in LOVE with the disco references and vintage-style photography.
