Like the combination of roller skates and hotpants, the twangy funk and soul tunes of the ’70s were somehow goofy and corny and sexy all at once. Even if you’re only going to a party at someone’s (brick?) house, these jams will get you and keep you feeling the grooviest you’ve ever felt, all night long.

Log in to replywhen i was younger and we went camping, we would play this cassette tape that we had over and over again called “ultimate funk and soul” and holy moly was did it ever have the ultimate funk and soul on it. it had stevie wonder, chaka kahn, sly and the family stone, aretha franklin, the o’jays and all these other absolutely amazing funk and soul groups. the cassette almost died, and we had to enter the 21st century and put it on a cd and then onto our ipods, but every time we go away that list comes out and me and my brother and sister belt out every word to ever song.
Log in to replyJamie this is TOO GOOD! Favorite things:
1. The intro to Superstition kills me every time,
Log in to reply2. The “pew pew!” sound on Ring My Bell, and
3. The way you can’t NOT do the body roll to Tell Me Something Good. LOVE.
