Log in to replyAwesome! I love the headband on the last one the most- and the pictures on all of them are fabulous!

love number 9!
Log in to replyWhen I was 12 I went to youth club in a smoking jacket, platform boots, ripped jeans and dreadlocks and someone said I looked like Bowie and I didn’t have a clue what they meant. Now I get it.
Log in to replyyeah you just like killed off my last fucked up attempts at being normal with 38ish words….thank you man, thank you. i am now who I am.

Log in to replyMan, I never was into bowie, and then I saw this dude DWAYNE performing in detroit…(a nineteen year old love child of grace jones and david bowie), and along with all yall’s rad post…… I think I finally get it.

this is undoubtedly beautiful and wonderfully shot. but i would have loved to see a bowie with hips and boobs and thighs. though the stick-thin androgynous look obviously works well with the concept, most of us don’t have the bodies of 90s new york models. it might have been cool to show how even more classically feminine-looking girls can take style cues from ziggy stardust.
Log in to replyhey rebecca! thanks for your comment – I totally agree with what you’re saying. my next shoot for this month is all about boobs hips and thighs dressed up in similar 70s glam outfits.
Log in to replyxx
oh this is so great. but i have to disagree with rebecca’s comment. I think that the idea is to BE bowie, and that stick-thin androgyny was part of Ziggy. Also, imagine a bowie with “hips and boobs and thighs” in that jumpsuit. It’s like those girls in crappy dalek outfits holding plungers.
Log in to replyI agree. Hips and boobs and thighs just aren’t androgynous.
Log in to replyi love how often bowie is mentioned/featured on rookie! this shoot is too good!
Log in to replyPraise to the skull crown
Log in to replyHi, I love your pictures! I was wondering if you did the multiple exposures with your camera, or after with an editing program? Also what camera do you use? Thanks so much!
Log in to replyheyy – thanks! I use old school filters layered infront of my camera – I rarely do anything in photoshop – my work is done in camera. i use a canon ae-1
Log in to replyx
I use a Canon ae-1 too! Thanks so much, I was looking into buying some filters thats why when I saw these pictures I got so excited!
Log in to replythis series is great! the lighting is impeccable-it makes the photos cinematic. much of petra’s work is like this, her photos have the atmosphere of a darkly romantic experimental film. this shoot captures bowie’s spirit well. it’s eclectic, sophisticated, and sumptuously shot. keep on being wonderful, rookie!

I’m so glad you like it! I made that one from a tiara my parents gave me, twist tied a bib necklace from forever 21 upside down on it, and superglued the dollar store jewels, and then finished it off with some skull beads threaded on, with some jewel eyes of their own!
crafting is too much fun. I was inspired by Rookie and Meadham Kirchoff :)
Log in to replyYOU HAVE SKILL
Log in to replyThis was amazing and terrifying. Another beautiful shoot, Petra. You are so talented.
Log in to replyI love the skull crown/headband!!! Totally precious
Log in to replyI neeeeeeeeed that H&M necklace and the tiny pink guitar

Log in to replyomg #11…
Log in to replyPetra- your photos are always so wonderful. They’re reignited my passion for photography, so thank you so much for that. I can’t wait to see what you do next, all your photos keep getting better and better. These in particular are completely beautiful.
Log in to replyI think this might be one of my favorite shoots yet. I am always so excited to see see articles labeled “eye candy” because I can always count on the pictures being interesting, original, and creative, unlike many fashion spreads I have seen recently.
Log in to replyI agree with some of the others about the skinny model. I’m all for more fat-positivity in fashion in general, but being stick-thin is one of Bowie’s defining characteristics. I’m real excited about the upcoming curvy-girl shoot though!
Log in to replylove the fact there is so much Bowie on Rookie!!
Log in to reply…now some Angela Bowie too?
Log in to replyThat crown……I want it……
Log in to replyI just died.
Log in to replyThe girl in this shoot is so ridiculously beautiful.
Log in to replypetra is my inspiration, i check her tumblr and the ardorous daily! she’s inspired me to go to OCAD and pursue my love of style and photography. i live really near her, and i hope someday i might get to meet her.

Log in to replyThe last one is my favourite! Especially the headband :)
Where can I get one like it? Or could I make one?x
http://www.platformshoesblog.blogspot.com
Log in to replyPetra, amazing.
As a Bowie fan who constantly sees these “Bowie” fashion shoots, (ALL named Rebel Rebel btw), this one does not make me shiver, but is very very wonderfully Bowie!
Keepit up gurrrrl! ;)
Log in to replyI NEED to get a filter for my camera but I don’t know where to look or what to search.
