Well hello there. Next month's theme is IMITATION. We're looking for written and visual work that has to do with mimicry, replication, re-enactment, dramatization, novelization, repetition. Not to mention: camouflage, fakes, counterfeits, “authenticity,” “reality.” Send your stuff here, and thanks. ♥

Oh how fast march has gone. Really looking forward to April.
Log in to replyI especially loved this month’s backgrounds! My favorites are #3, #5, #7, #9, and #12. The space photos are absolutely beautiful!

Same! totally my favourite month so far
Log in to replyI find these pictures so inspiring!
Log in to replyMy favorite background picture from this month has to be that still from Harold and Maude. That movie really is about exploration, sexually and emotionally. It’s definitely in my top 25 list, and not just because of the soundtrack or ’70s fashion.
Log in to replyI’m in Astronomy class at my high school (we’re lucky enough to have a planetarium) and we look at the APODs every day. The pictures are so beautiful, but the descriptions can be pretty corny sometimes!
Log in to replySo cool My favorites #2 #5 #6 and all the APOD pics. #9 IS THE JAWS BEACH WITH ADDED UFOs.I knew I recognized those frantic kids from somewhere. That kind of made my day :)
Log in to replyOn a totally unrelated note, are you guys not doing book reviews anymore? They haven’t been up in two months, and they are one of my FAVORITE PARTS of Rookie.
Log in to replyI’m glad you like them! We did people reviews instead this month, but books/zines/comics will be back next month.
Log in to replywooyayayay! i love zines…I make them all the time (usually for Spanish revision for some reason..)

Log in to replyAhhh I can’t believe that March is over! I loved this moth’s theme and can’t wait for the next one (I’m really curious to see what you guys do with Transformation.) My favorites are definitely 2 & 5 and the one after that and after that and after that … so basically I love all of them :-)
Log in to replyany website that uses lauren bacall as their background has my heart immediately.
Log in to replyjeez, this month has gone by quick…..

Log in to replyI loved all the Harold and Maude backgrounds! <3
Log in to replyi found a grimey old copy of H and M at this library sale, you know they are slowly ridding themselves of their VHS tapes. it’s super fun to watch on ANALOG though, so many weird subtleties come out.

i would have like to see more pieces this month about exploring actual places (“girl about town” was one of my favorite articles!) But these backgrounds are all really cool and i can’t wait for Transformation!
Log in to replyNumber 3 is a bit badass! Its totally something the teens in my town would do, I’m thinking of doing some ‘youth of today’ inspired photography, hmmm..

Log in to replyA great movie that EVERYONE should watch, not really THAT MUCH exploration-themed is Everything Is Illuminated by Live Schrieber. Truly amazing. And, with Elijah Wood.
