Heavy songs to power through a rough task or hard day.

Hello, you. June’s theme will be LONGING. Unlike more-acute forms of desire like desperation or need, longing is a sweet ache—more pining for something than dying for it. It’s nostalgia, homesickness, boredom, a persistent feeling of lack, dreaming of escape/the future. It’s summer: summer homes & cottages, stuffy summer bedrooms, sun-bleached memories of summers past. The shadow of September that hangs over June. It’s secret hangouts, crushes, unrequited love. Send what you’ve got here, and thanks. ♥

Aw hellz to the yezz!!!
Log in to replyomfg. punk and metal. this is the best playlist ever.
fun fact I usually try to conceal from everyone else: I was raised listening to metal because my dad is a major metalhead. looking back, I think it is entirely the reason I like hardcore punk so much. there are a lot of similarities between them.
also, just as a final note, I think banned in dc is the coolest song ever so this playlist gets major points just for that.
Log in to replydon’t conceal! own it! people who like this kind of music are automaticalle more awesome.
Log in to replyAwesome playlist! Another great song is “Raw Power” by The Stooges. :)
Log in to replyhalf of these songs i listen to at work every single day. they really do help. xo
Log in to replyThis is so good. So great to be reminded of Harum Scarum.
Log in to replyThis is just what I needed. Today I had my first AP test ever, and then I had to rush to a championship track meet (I already missed one of my events). I just have to release all the stress I’ve been going through with these headbangers!!!!
Log in to replyYay! Rookie, you always read my mind. Metal makes everything better and definitely makes me feel POWERFUL! But really, no Iron Maiden?! Early 80′s Maiden got me through some rough times!
Log in to reply“Don’t Drag Me Down” by Social Distortion!!!!
Log in to replyAh best playlist to date!
Log in to replyThis is a kick-ass playlist, but I’m not gonna lie – HOW IS THE WHITE STRIPES NOT ON HERE?

Henry Rollins is the messiah, and The Germs are often overlooked, so thank you, Stephanie.
What about The Minutemen? A little too avant-garde?
Pere Ubu?

Log in to replyYou have great music taste! Especially Metallica, the Germs, and Black Flag.
Log in to replyGlad you all enjoyed it. A little headbanging every once in awhile is totally necessary, especially after a rough week, exams, etc. Sorry I couldn’t include everything everyone loves (or even everything I love). I tried to give a little taste of as many different varieties of heavy music as I could. There is so much more to find and add to your headbanging collection and the comments here will definitely help you out!
Log in to replyright when i saw the beavis and butthead picture i knew this was going to be a fantastic playlist. ohhh yeaahahh
Log in to replyOld Rise Against, Black Flag, Minor Threat, The Distillers….
Best Playlist. Ever.
Log in to replysolid
Log in to replyI didn’t notice who made this until I saw Distillers and I was like, wait wait wait, back it up here, and then was like well duh it’s Stephanie! Haha.
Log in to replyAlso, I may be seeing Refused this summer. My boyfriend most certainly is. He is way beyond stoked.
nice work! good stuff for sure, especially the slayer :)
Log in to replyNothing mentioned of the influence of Glenn Danzig, whose voice can melt even the steeliest metal hearts? misfits, samhain, or even danzig? Listen to ‘Attitude’ by the Misfits and don’t tell me you don’t feel like going out and whooping someone’s ass just for being a jerk?
Log in to replyeven so, mostly love the list anyway!!
Log in to replymastodon totally got me through my moby-dick research paper
