In high school and in life, sometimes you gotta quit slumping around like your bird just died, reach deep, and RUN THIS TOWN while BUSTING CLOUDS. Or, you know, just clean your room like your parents have been begging you to, and do your homework so you don’t grow up not knowing who the Habsburgs are. Here are 18 songs that help me get hyped up for when it’s time to GET THINGS DONE. Like the great poetess of our time Beyoncé says, a little sweat ain’t never hurt nobody.

Never heard of Loose Joints, but they kind of remind me of the Go! Team? A little? In a way?
Speaking of the Go! Team, they should be on here! They’re a great “power” band. They make me feel like I am in my own Rocky movie. I would also add some Girl Talk to any “power” playlist.
Anyway, thanks for this, it helped me muster up the momentum to write a paper that I have to finish tonight. :)
Log in to replyi agree, the go! team should definitely be here :)

I was listening to Cloudbusting last night and describing to someone the amazing narrative power of the video in which Kate Bush stars as a nine year old boy and Donald Sutherland as her father and they create rain storms. It is so powerful and MOVING.
Log in to replyGreat theme for the playlist! Everybody is going to need it some time :)

Log in to replyThis is awesome and comes right on time! Have to hand in my B.A. thesis on monday :) thanks a lot, Rookie!
Log in to replylove this playlist! Loose Joints is such a strong starter – I only found out about them because James Murphy (ex-LCD Soundsystem and music messiah) said that ‘Is It All Over My Face?’ was one of the 10 songs that changed his life (http://www.tensongsthatsavedyourlife.com/music/james-murphy)… and Loose Joints has Arthur Russell in it which just compounds the coolness, to be honest. And then follow ups with Curtis Mayfield, Saint Etienne and Fleetwood Mac? brrrrrriiiilliant!

Log in to replyI thought this was going to help me with my homework…. instead, it led to me looking up just about every song that every one of these bands/singers have ever recorded. All of them. -.-
Log in to replyWith finals next week, this couldn’t have come at a better time <3
Log in to replyFor one of the playlists next month you should use the song Everyone Comes Here by hello stranger. I’m certain it’s about L.A! It’s so awesome too! I love it! Anyways, this might be a helpful playlist because I’m terrible at getting stuf done! Also I just bought The Willy Wonk and the chocolate factory soundtrack! Sorry for being so random…
