Log in to reply7 and 10 are really nice and i squealed at the hitchcock mural and yeah i just want to live where this is, and i really like that peter pan collar dress as well.
Log in to replyThis photo diary really captures the spirits of summer! I’m the kind of very lazy person who don’t go outside unless it’s necessary, and I want to go outside right now! Really like #20-25.

Log in to replyIt’s always so strange for me to see photo shoots and other such stuff in places where I grew up and live because sometimes I forget that those places don’t belong to me and my memories, but these are such wonderful and beautiful pictures that I think I can forgive it this time ;)
Log in to replyyou grew up in LA too? wow yes it’s sort of a crazy feeling seeing places you recognize in other people’s photos. I’m happy you enjoyed them even if you feel weird about the locations!
Log in to replyyeah and even though it is kind of crazy, it also makes me proud to live here? If that makes sense
Log in to replyI understand! Los Angeles gets a hard time sometimes also when I really feel like it’s owed a bit more appreciation.
#11 both those dresses are ADORABLE
Log in to replythose blue doc martens are amazing!

But really, these are gorgeous. I want to go outside and run about in the sunshine.
Log in to replyOf course I always wanted to go to LA, Toronto and all these other places you US- and Canada-rookies come from- but these pictures really make me LA-sick. Can’t wait to go there (maybe next year)

Log in to replyI love these so much–even though I’m at home in LA right now they still make me happy. And I was just in Hollywood the other day, it’s so weird to see pictures of things I see all the time up in an editorial.

Log in to replySome gorgeous pictures here Tara. I love 5, 8, and 20 on.
Rookie – I love this magazine, I’ve been reading it for a few months now even though I’m definitely not the target market! So, please don’t take what I’m about to say the wrong way, it’s just that it keeps on occurring to me every time I see one of the photo shoots posted here, and I think it’s a shame – given how perfect everything else is. Basically, while the photos – for example here – are really very good for the most part, they could do with some more careful editing. There’s quite a few shots that are repetitive (e.g. 16 and 17: for me, 17 is just a better version of 16, so 16 could have been edited out; idem 2, 3, 4, with 4 being, again in my opinion, the strongest shot), and I’ve noticed a tendency to order the photos in a kind of linear sequence that moves from outfit to outfit, location to location, pose to pose, which makes the edit logical but not very dynamic, and that actually detracts from the power of any single photo (since seeing three very similar photos in a row necessarily blunts the force and singularity of each one). Anyway, hope this doesn’t sound jerky – it’s not intended to. And though I’m normally not arrogant enough to dole out this kind of advice, I thought it might actually be helpful. Apologies if it’s totally unhelpful and unwelcome.
Log in to replyKudos on such a great publication – I wish it’d existed when I was a teenager!
GAH I love this. This, if nothing else, makes me want to visit America. There’s that- vibe, that look. I LOVE the British coast but it is NOT the same. It’s too cold, too clear, too clean and grimy at the same time. Nothing like this. You don’t get a pastel feeling on the British coast.
Pah I miss the sea.

Hi!
Log in to replyI was randomly searching my old band to see if there were any new or interesting references and was wondering if this was Marine Girls inspired? I think Rookie mag is lovely,so good to look at and great articles ( and I’m 49!!! Hardly your target audience!!!)
Thanks, gina
Hi! Wow, I’m honored you found/like the site! This shoot was in our month that was all inspired by and devoted to Los Angeles, and I guess I always associated Marine Girls with LA? Whenever I name the photo albums it’s usually a music reference.
