There’s a World Outside

One sunny Sunday morning a few weeks ago, my friend Mirren drove over to my house proposing we go on a spontaneous road trip. We packed our passports (just in case we ended up in France) along with a trunk-full of instruments, our skateboards, masses of Lipton iced tea, and lots of glitter and stickers. We didn’t end up in France, but we did end up at one of my favorite beaches on the south coast of England, picking up friends along the way and listening to mixtapes of Bikini Kill, Francoise Hardy, and Sonic Youth. We drove along wide-open country roads, stopping off in dewy twilit woodlands that I was sure I’d seen before in a dream… We were completely free and totally happy. These were some of the pictures we took along the way. —Eleanor

Oh these are all so amazing and dreamy and woah. All the road trips on here recently have made me really want to be able to drive :/
Log in to replyum, I could only see the first photo(loving the light leak!), but from that one, I can tell the rest are awesome ;)
Rosie Say Relax
Log in to replyI had the same problem :(
Log in to replyDitto.
Log in to replysame here.
Log in to replyWhat browser(s) are you all using? I know Internet Explorer has trouble with these photo albums…
Log in to replyI could only see the first picture when I was using Google Chrome, but I was fine when I switched over to Safari.
Sam here, I’m using google chrome. This problem on started a few days ago…I’ll be sure to try Safari.
Ditto. Chrome had an update Aug 1. It’s probably that.
Well, that sucks. We’ll start researching some alternative ways to put up these galleries.
these are just BEAUTIFUL. damn, i wish i could drive aimlessly and possibly end up in france or a random rocky beach. i don’t live anywhere that cool, but i know i will in the future! :)
faux style.
Log in to replyLovely! That’s the great thing about true friends: they’re willing to go anywhere with you. Plus, I adore your brown fur-trimmed coat.
Log in to replyWish I could do something like that! Amazing photos, really!

Log in to replyWow. I’ve always wanted to go somewhere spontaneously. And living in Germany, there’s a fair chance I might actually end up in France ;)
Log in to replyCliffs of Dover?
Log in to replyI LOVE THE OUTFITS!
These are so beautiful, I especially love number 16 :)
Log in to replyI live near there! Such a beautiful area. Road trips are so synonymous with the States that it’s great to see a British version. I know it’s given me a few ideas…. Wonderfully evocative photos.
Log in to replyMy friend is going on a road trip around parts of the US this summer, and I’ve realised that I’m going on a (kind of) road trip around south england (I live in Norfolk): to London for a few days, to stay with friends and go to see some olympic events; to Devon, for a few days to stay with more friends; then to my grandma’s house in Hampshire. Okay… so it won’t a spontaneous or a magical as the one in these pictures, but yeah.
Log in to replyaaaaah I wish i was old enough to drive… these are wonderfull!

Log in to replyLiterally out of this world. I’m so amazed.
Log in to replyThese are amazing!!! Especially the second one. And #5 and 16.
Log in to replyBeing in France, it really makes me want to cross the English Channel and land on this same exact beach and wander in this same exact forest… With the same exact stylish friends ;)
Definitely should try to learn how to drive (although I’m terrified to get behind the wheel)
These are so sick! I’m really into #6, very film still like which I am very into. Come back to nyc so we can all go on a US roadtrip! My younger brother is restoring a VW van with my dad and I plan on taking it out next summer!
Log in to replyuhhh yes!!!!! that sounds incredible
Log in to replyCan’t believe real life looks like that.
Log in to replyThe beach. Wow, I really want to be on those black, round rocks and sand. Gorgeous.

Log in to replypretty album girls! (and guyz)! longing for that kind of weather and scenery out here in the Nevada desert.
Log in to replyIts funny, over here I’m longing for sunshine and heat as an alternative to the tights and wool cardigans weather that we’ve had in what’s supposed to be high-summer… The grass is always greener on the other side, I guess.
Log in to replybeautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Log in to replywow you have the best cliffs over there
Log in to replyPicture 5 is amazing. As is 6. And 17.
Hell they’re all good!
How do you take pictures like this??? (Okay that is a sweeping general question)
I feel like I have spent a lifetime trying to become good at photography, but my pictures are never this breathtaking! And the nostalgic sort of vibes are never present…
