Best friends Emily Cohn and Emma Orlow believe that the way you inhabit your room says a lot about who you are. Recognizing that there is no such thing as a typical bedroom (just as there’s no such thing as a normal teen), this week they launched The Do Not Enter Diaries, a web series that offers an intimate peek into the private spaces of teens from across the globe.
A new installment will go up on their site every Wednesday at 4 PM, but today Rookie has an exclusive look at this week’s episode. Tatiyana J. is a 16-year-old from Harlem, New York who, collects Ty Beanie Bears, designs giant mustache pillows, and uses her windowsill as a nursery for the plants she grows for the urban garden down the street. Her room is totally rad, and she is, too.

Log in to replyShe’s sooo cool and artsy and pretty and smart! I want to see the mustache pillows when she’s done. She definitely deserves that leadership award and is clearly still a leader, starting a community garden and all.
Log in to replyi’m so jealous of her bunk bed/desk frame, i always wanted one of those. and her beanie baby collection and mini window garden are the best ever.

This reminds me alot of Teenage Bedroom on tumblr, but I always wanted to know the girls/people that inhabited those awesome spaces. Is this gonna be a thing? I REALLY hope this becomes a thing.

Your bedroom is the only place where you can be free.
