A soundtrack for dreamy-eyed stares, quick breaths, long kisses, happy sighs, and the feeling that you’ve entered a world where no one else exists except for you and the person you’re with (at least until someone knocks on the door and everyone freaks out).

Would Rookie considering using Spotify and publish these playlists so we could subscribe to them? I discovered my favorite album of 2012 through you guys (Chromatics — Kill For Love), but I’m on Spotify way more than Rookie and I don’t want to miss these awesome mixes.
Log in to replyWe’ve thought about that, but since Spotify requires you to download an app, we’ve decided to stick with 8tracks for now. Maybe at some point we can also upload them to Spotify, just for those of you who are on there…
Log in to replyThanks for your promptness, the explanation, and for giving the mixes interesting names (I do that too). I just decided to put it on Spotify myself. It’s missing the Elysian Fields track though.
Log in to replyThanks for putting it on Spotify.

Log in to replyI am suprised you did not put “Spin the bottle”, by Juliana Hatfield.

Log in to replyIT FEELS LIKE WE ONLY GO BACKWARDZZZZZ
Log in to replyI saw tame impala live last weekend they were so so incredible! god bless u kevin parker
Log in to replyTame Impala is my favorite band right now. Way to go Rookie.
Log in to replyI read once that Vetiver’s ‘You May Be Blue’ suited a psychedelic desert road trip and that’s all I can picture when I hear it now. I can’t imagine making out to it!
Log in to replyGalaxie 500′s version of “Don’t Let Our Youth Go to Waste” is one of my favorite songs ever. This playlist is great!
Some songs on my own personal Make-Out Mix are:
Log in to reply“Molly’s Lips” and/or “Son of a Gun” by the Vaselines
“100,000 Fireflies” by The Magnetic Fields”
“Car” by Built to Spill
“Buzzin’ Fly” by Tim Buckley”
“First Girl I Loved” by The Incredible String Band
Great songs. I think songs that are dreamy and hypnotize with a steady beat and build up tension to release in a climax, in that cliche “stairwell to heaven” make out song trope work really well, and are just really great songs. Also plain ol’ pretty songs work too:
Deerhunter: Spring Hall Convert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9STd-67_Ft8
Elliot Smith: Everything Reminds me of her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9STd-67_Ft8
The Pixies: The Happening. (Crazy song because it works backwards, starting out crazy and then smoothing into this floating dream-scape. Also it’s about Aliens, but it still works, I swear, it’s a horny song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3jNZFcwdg0
Yo La Tengo: SugarCube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mri0HppCRH8
Beach House: Other People (hey something current-ish!) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mri0HppCRH8
The Ultimate: The Clean: Point that thing somewhere else: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ8C-ndyFXk
And just for fun, the ultimate anti-make out song: (I used to be sad now I’m just bored with you…)
Ryan Adams: Burning Photographs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLV2QQ3hOxs
While listening to these songs I played this video on mute on repeat to create an arty vibe and it became sort of fascinating how well the images/movements would sync with the music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPM-D_Fw67c&feature=player_embedded
dunno what it means.
Log in to replyI messed up on two of my links. Stale copy and paste skills I suppose.
Beach House: Other People: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SyZZi0D18M
And Elliot Smith: Everything Reminds me of her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcmEJoZkshw
Log in to replyK last one: just in a weird mood to be posting so much, but…
Jeff Buckley sings the rawest horniest (without being nasty) songs ever: a ridiculous, ridiculous song.

Log in to replyI love your mixes, I like to listen to them at work, gives me something new to thinki about + Just Like Honey is my ultimate ‘Walk down the aisle’ track, reminds me of Lost in Translation.
Log in to replySwans ;) i didn’t see that coming.
Log in to replyHow do I get this magic on my iPod?
Log in to replyfall out boy has a song called 7 minutes in heaven – it’s definitely a cringe-out favourite of mine
Log in to replywell, we can’t use spotify in brazil =/ so it wouldn’t work for other countries, I guess. It would limit my experience on this website and that would be sad :(
Log in to replymake out with you by the queens of the stone age is also a perfect seven minutes in heaven song!
Log in to replyOh my god Only in Dreams by Weezer I am clawing my eyes out in pure joy is that a thing oh my good choices GOOD CHOICES <3
