This was kind of funny in a really terrible way! I love the illustrations they were so colorfully amazing :)
I love this! It’s so pretty :)
I have a phobia of vomiting (It’s actually kinds outta hand.) (I’ll never get pregnant) so this would have been an awful trip for me… and you guys totally should have won the competition!
Yo I have a phobia of vomiting too… and so does my mom. One weekend recently I literally saw 4 people vomit (2 at a party, one little kid, and one was when I was just walking down the street) and I nearly had a panic attack. This is partially why I tend not to got to crazy parties…
Oh Lord! This was hilarious. I’m glad that (it seems like) you can look back on this experience and laugh.
When I was fifteen, I toured Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic with my choir. Mostly kids just dozed off on the bus, but one of my friends was so constipated that a chaperone brought her a GIANT bottle of prune juice, and she carried it around like an alcoholic. We all knew what was in it, though!
Hope you can make it back to Chicago someday. There’s a lot more to it than Six Flags and Medieval Times.
xoxo
Do you live in Chicago? I go to college near there, but I’m from CT and I still haven’t figured out where all the cool places to go in Chicago are…If you happen to see this, any suggestions would be appreciated :)
sorry you were so ill! <3 I love the illustration here! it's amazing

Oh my gosh…..Madison I feel you 100%. I have emetophobia too and I’ll never be a nurse or be pregnant. I don’t think I would’ve survived this trip. I seriously would’ve rather walked home.
I’m in love with the illustrations!!!
Loved it, I thought my chorus day-trips were stressful sometimes! But this takes all the cakes. I absolutely love the illustration as well!!
This story is so hilariously horrible it sounds like something out of a movie. It sucks that you got so sick. And the illustrations were awesome too.
This is gross and also a strange coincidence because my dad just got an awful stomach bug last night and ew how unpleasant I’m very sorry. At least the experience resulted in some pretty collage-y art!
I love the illustrations!
This same thing happened to me! Or rather, not to me, but to my entire choir class besides 4 people. There were over 200 of us and we went to Disney World to perform. The last two days of the trip were filled with vomiting students.
It could have been worse though! It could have been me!
These are probably the best collages I’ve ever seen on Rookie, oh my goodness. I’m obsessed.
These are gross but somehow hilarious.
Love the illustrations! Such a funny story too :)
Great job on the story telling and illustration, looked great!
This is kind of similar to my senior class trip on a whale watch, I went to a small school but I’m gonna go ahead and say 50% of my class ended up vomiting, me included.
I was on a cruise where everyone-STAFF INCLUDED-got a 24-hour stomach virus at least once. Luckily, it was a 7-day cruise, but still. BAD. memories.
That… was… BEAUTIFUL.
I read this while eating yoghurt, it was beautiful
Sorry that you were sick! It doesn’t sound like the nicest experience. :( A cool illustration though! x

This story is hilarious and reminds me of a time my family went on a beach holiday, and being the athletic bunch they are, decided we should run up sand dunes. I told them I was feeling sick as we were doing so, but they thought I was just trying to “ruin the holiday” because I’m the least athletic of them, and went to run the five kilometres back down the beach. They didn’t wait for me, and I went down, vomited about eight times, and then had to walk/crawl 5km down the beach after them to get back. Worst holiday I’ve had.
These illustration are FANTASTIC! I was blown away by them the entire time. So impressed.
This story was hilarious and reminds me of how I fell sick in Turkey and literally ruined the first two days of the holiday because I could barely walk anywhere and wanted to sleep at 7PM.
Great illustrations and writing xx
I love these illustrations. I don’t go on trips with my school choir because the music teacher at my school is kinda scary and pushy so I tend to stay as far away from the music rooms as possible… although, this story does remind me of when I went to China with my family about 4 years ago and I got sick on the first morning we were there, and then was sick for the rest of the trip except for the last few days. I missed out on so much! My sister still has vivid memories of me vomiting on her shoes after going on a ride in a theme park (poor decision making on my part!)
i loved this! the illustrations were so pretty and the story was great!
this is wonderful! i know i shouldn’t laugh but i cant help it. i loved the illustrations xxxxx
As much as I love this, all the pictures to even just the pretty writing, that really does sounds awful. I’m sorry you had to get so sick!
awesome!
I just wanted to say to the two commenters with vomiting phobia: I, too, used to have this. It was so bad that if I thought a character on a tv show might possibly vomit, I had to leave the room! I felt this way for years, but it did eventually go away. I also have a close friend who used to share this phobia, but is rid of it now. Just saying, phobias don’t always last forever.
OMG this artist is SO. GOOD. I seriously hope to see more comics illustrated by this fabulous artist, because I would def like to see more of this media on Rookie(or anywhere, really).
OH MY GOD the collages are beautiful!!!
I can’t tell you how much I like how you illustrated this! The collaged vomit. BEAUTIFUL!!!!

As I have a fear of vomiting, that would be my worst nightmare! ♥
Rookie,
I never met a bunch of such crazy, creative and interesting of people as you. Every time I read an article/illustration of you guys, i pick up a pencil and let myself go. You made me interested (and more interesting!). You are my second school. You made me an OK teen, telling me that there’s more than just school and being cool and pretending life’s amazing. (ok, sentimental time is over. eh)
well, erm, thanks!
AAAHH the graphics and drawing is so beautiful (and I love the story, of course)
